What the Good Work Pledge Means to Unisus
We recently applied for early adopter status for the North of Tyne Combined Authority’s Good Work Pledge and were delighted to have been successful. We decided that we wanted to adopt the Good Work Pledge because its purpose is closely aligned to that of Unisus. When Unisus was set up, one of the driving forces behind its creation was that employment should be fulfilling, rewarding and meaningful. We want people who work for us to have the opportunity to reach their potential, so signing up to an initiative which recognises this was a step in the right direction.

At Unisus, we also understand that looking after our employees is not just about our ethical objectives; it also makes good business sense. We know that employees who feel supported, valued and empowered tend to go the extra mile and are more committed to their work. This is particularly important in care, where dedication and sincerity are vital in delivering a high-quality service to our clients. The importance of social value
As local authorities place ever more emphasis on social value, they expect their business partners to be providing benefits to the communities in which they operate beyond simply supplying goods and services. By adopting the Good Work Pledge, we can demonstrate our commitment to developing good work for local people to the local authorities we work with.
Continuous improvement
I would never argue that Unisus has everything we want in place yet as regards employment, but that is not the point of the Good Work Pledge. Our aspirations, our progress and our direction of travel are what is important and the Good Work Pledge enables us to work towards achieving our goals.
