We are recruiting health care assistants to provide high quality, consistent care to our clients.  Unisus Care gained a rating of GOOD in October 2019, reviewed in April 2022 with CQC in our first inspection. The care service complements the other services that we offer for people with disabilities and health conditions in the North East.

Roles: We have several different roles available including 12 hour day shifts, 12 hour waking night shifts, sits, apprenticeships, domiciliary care, support work. Suitability for the role and roles available will be discussed during the interview process / training

Hours: To be agreed. Guaranteed hours will be offered to reliable, dedicated staff after a probationary period.

Pay: Care staff are paid weekly on a Friday

Training: All provided and is mandatory for the role, as well as additional complementary training, including moving and handling, medication, basic life support, coronavirus awareness, safeguarding, dementia awareness, autism spectrum disorder awareness, whistleblowing

Location: Community based with work available in Newcastle and North Tyneside

Health Care Assistants Job Purpose: To enable clients with disabilities and health conditions, to lead healthier, safer and more fulfilling lives

Main duties and responsibilities include:

• To follow the clients’ care and support plans

• Listening and responding appropriately to client needs and any changes

• Reporting any safeguarding concerns

• To assist clients in maintaining their personal care and hygiene

• Helping clients to prepare food, eat and drink

• Accompanying clients to appointments and activities

• Supporting clients to access public transport

• Sleep-ins / waking night shifts at clients’ homes

• Assisting clients with medication in accordance with care plans

• Liaising and cooperating with colleagues and attending team meetings

• Helping to maintain health and safety

• Respecting client confidentiality

• Acting at all times in accordance with Unisus’ policies and procedures

• We believe that if we recruit people with the right values, we will achieve our aims. We can teach our health care assistants new skills but we can’t teach people to care.

Healthcare assistants must be flexible and able to work to suit the needs of the service.
